QDesign's
MPEG Pro Software links Digidesign's Pro Tools Systems to DG Systems'
new iAudioTM Service
AES, San Francisco, California (September 26, 1998) - QDesign Corporation,
a leading provider of audio compression technologies, and DG Systems (NASDAQ
NM: DGIT), the broadcast industry's leading provider of digital distribution
services, announce their partnership to enable audio professionals to
produce and distribute broadcast-quality audio directly from their Digidesign
Pro Tools workstations to over 6,000 broadcast destinations using DG's
iAudioTM Internet service. This means that any studio equipped with a
Pro Tools system and the QDesign MPEG PRO AudioSuite Plug-In can compress
and distribute a completed session to over 6,000 broadcast destinations
in as little as an hour with guaranteed reliability. As the market leader
for professional audio workstations, Digidesign sees the QDesign MPEG
PRO AudioSuite Plug-In and iAudioTM as an excellent means to serve the
demands for wide area connectivity.
"The QDesign MPEG PRO product enables audio professionals to reduce the
size of an audio file to one-sixth of its original size without any degradation
in quality. With access to the DG Systems' iAudioTM service, the three
companies have established a vital link in a more integrated production
and distribution solution," states Brian Hageman, Manager, Worldwide Electronic
Marketing Digidesign, Inc.
"The QDesign MPEG technology is a critical component for electronically
distributing broadcast-quality audio. With the QDesign MPEG PRO AudioSuite
Plug-In providing the link to Pro Tools workstations, DG Systems is able
to extend its iAudioTM service to an even larger group of audio professionals,
" said Hank Donaldson, DG Systems' President and CEO. Digidesign offers
two programs developed by QDesign to distribute MPEG audio: MPEG Pro AudioSuite
Plug-In for ProTools and MPEG Pro for Windows 95 and NT.
"QDesign provides real-time, broadcast-quality MPEG audio encoding and
decoding software, allowing customers to convert their audio files into
standard MPEG audio formats for transmission to DG Systems via the Internet,"
states Mandy Chan, Vice-President of Marketing at QDesign.
